Capital Bikeshare has been testing a new app in recent weeks, and now it’s officially launched.
As reported by the Washington Post, the iOs and Android app is designed to make it easier to use the bikeshare.
Download it“The new Capital Bikeshare mobile app will open up new possibilities for CaBi riders — providing a convenient and quick way to find a bike or a dock, keep track of exercise, and make it easier to know that you’ve properly docked your bike,” Capital Bikeshare General Manager Eric Gilliland said in a statement.
A key function of the app is to help get access to the system. There’s a color-coded map with bikes and docking stations, as well as a way to purchase a pass. The app also has a way to access bikes without a key. It provides a code that can be entered.
During a ride, the app offers updates about a ride through push notifications. There’s also a section showing ride stats. Sounds like it could have the added benefit of more data for visualizations.
