Feeling a new energy with the warm weather? These March events (and a couple at the end of February) might help you translate that into your next professional move.

From blockchain-focused community meetups to tech employment and compensation panels, these upcoming events can help you find a new job, a new mentor or even a new friend (aw). With a particular focus on growth and talent, local organizations are pushing more job fairs and networking events than we at Technical.ly typically see on the Pittsburgh Events Roundups.

Web3 PGH Meetup

A new in-person meetup focused on blockchain technology will kick off this week at the Forbes Tavern downtown. Hosted by RustBuilt Pittsburgh leader and Stronghold Digital Mining VP of Corporate Development Kit Mueller, this new community aims to leverage existing tech connections for future innovation in the blockchain space. The first meeting will feature networking and presentations from Confluence Analytics President Conor Platt and founding member of LinksDAO, Jerimiah Lee Lancaster. Tech Council New Member Mixer

New and current members of the Pittsburgh Technology Council can look forward to a chance to meet others in the organization at a mixer later this week. This social event is a great time to network with members both new and old, and hear from council representatives on the advantages of membership this spring. Those in attendance will certainly talk about many of Pittsburgh’s tech goals for 2022, so be sure to join if you’re interested.

Top Tech Talent Hiring Event

If you’re looking to make a move into the local tech industry — or even switch companies if you’re already working in it — this hiring event might be right for you. Featuring corporations such as UPMC, American Eagle Outfitters, Argo AI, Dick’s Sporting Goods and PNC, this event is a great chance to learn more about the tech opportunities at Pittsburgh’s biggest companies. The online event will take place via Brazen, and will include chances to speak with representatives from each of the attending companies.

Startup Job Fair

Interested in working for a startup? This job fair for students and alumni from the University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie Mellon University can help. The virtual event will provide an opportunity for past and current students to network with local startups actively hiring for talent across sales, marketing, operations, engineering and more. If you’re a student of either institution and want to attend, be sure to register on Handshake.

CIO Insights: Arconic, MSA Safety, and Foundation Radiology

This latest CIO Insights panel discussion from the Pittsburgh Technology Council will feature CIOs from companies in manufacturing and healthcare, including Arconic, Foundation Radiology Group and MSA Safety. The conversation will center on the power of information technology to enable both business leadership and challenges, and what each of the CIOs find most pressing for their respective industries right now. The in-person event has different price tiers according to membership, and has early bird discounts that end on Mar. 4.

Next Stage: TrialSpark

AlphaLab alumnus TrialSpark will return to Pittsburgh (from its New York headquarters) this spring to share advice with the Innovation Works accelerator’s latest crop of up and coming founders. The tech-enabled pharmaceutical company is best known for its clinical trial optimization platform that aims to reduce the cost and time to market for drug development companies. Most notably, TrialSpark raise $156 million in Series C funding last September. Stay tuned for specific events featuring the company’s founders that will take place over two days.

Winning Talent Together: Compensation Strategies

Along with inflation, the Great Resignation and more, another hot topic in economics today is employee compensation — how much is enough, and how can you leverage it to attract top talent? In a March event from the Pittsburgh Technology Council, a panel of human resources professionals will discuss the findings from the Western Pennsylvania Compensation and Benefits Survey. The discussion will aim to answer questions around any surprises in the survey, what its outcomes mean for local employers and how Pittsburgh’s tech companies can factor compensation into their business models as they scale.

2022 LAUNCH hosted by Fortyx80

Fortyx80, the nonprofit arm of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, will host its annual LAUNCH program for high school girls next month, with the aim of connecting them to opportunities in STEM. While the program continues through the spring, the first in-person retreat will take place at the end of March and will feature leadership curriculum, mentorship, resume building and more for local 10th and 11th grade high school girls.
