The Delaware Blue Coats, the Philadelphia 76ers-affiliated NBA G League team, has the sports complex, the mascot, and now, it has a TV partner in DETV Channel 28 (HD channel 1097).

The Blue Coats, which formerly played on the University of Delaware campus as the Delaware 87ers, have made their home in Wilmington at the 76ers Fieldhouse, a massive project led by Buccini Pollin Sports with the 76ers organization, since January.

The team’s first full season in the new complex starts on Saturday, Nov. 9, with the season opener against the Maine Red Claws — and now, fans can watch all home games live on TV, thanks to a new partnership between the Blue Coats and DETV, operators of leased access Channel 28 and DETVch.com. The DETV broadcasts will also air on ESPN2.

“We can’t wait to get this going,” DETV founder Ivan Thomas told Technical.ly. “We’re happy that we can show Wilmington in a different way.”

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dei Lynam, basketball analyst for the Blue Coats, will be commentating the games.

“Imagine walking into a bar like Stitch House on a Saturday night and seeing a Blue Coats on the TV,” said Thomas, noting that some bars, including the Washington Ale House, have unofficially agreed to show the games.

Thomas recently sat down with Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki (and Blue Coats mascot Coaty) to discuss the impact the team is having on the city, both economically and socially:
