Three to-be-announced companies from the Philly area will deliver their best pitches before two venture capital investors during a live recording of Gimlet Media’s “The Pitch” podcast, happening Nov. 27 at the Wharton School.
The entrepreneurship-focused podcast, hosted by Josh Muccio, will hold its first roadtrip-style recording of the podcast on University of Pennsylvania’s campus. Three student- or alumni-founded companies will pitch before Phil Nadel of Forefront Ventures and Jillian Manus of Structure Capital for a chance to be featured on a hour-long episode of the podcast.
Clare Leinweber, managing director at Penn Wharton Entrepreneurship, said the Brooklyn-based media company first got in touch about interviewing the winners of Wharton’s Startup Challenge.
“That got them thinking about Penn, Philly and student startups in general,” Leinweber said. “Because entrepreneurship is a priority for us, we thought, why not?”

Leinweber said the event is also a chance for the business school to connect with the local tech ecosystem.
“I think the event can be useful even if you’re not pitching,” the director said.
