Early-stage entrepreneurs with an idea that’s still taking shape (or one they haven’t raised capital for) are exactly who SEED SPOT is looking for to join its 2-Day Launch Camp.

The Phoenix-based nonprofit, which focuses on fostering social entrepreneurship, hosts two-day launch camps in Washington, D.C. and Phoenix where founders get help with their business plans and build their network. This fall, the event will take place in Philadelphia for the first time.

Organizer Michael Gallagher, executive director of BNI Delaware Valley Regions, was inclined to bringing the program to Philadelphia after participating in its D.C. iteration. Evan Friedkin and McKinsey Alston round out the team that’s making the Philly iteration happen Oct. 18–19 at the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

“We aim to attract those entrepreneurs that aim to make a difference in the community, whether that is local, national or the world,” said Friedkin, a Wilmington-based University of Delaware alum. “We are bringing the 2-Day Launch Camp to Philadelphia to be able to work with the community with that goal in mind. Bringing in those young entrepreneurs that want to make a difference and providing them the resources they need to succeed is important.”

Access to the program, which SEED SPOT says has helped over 400 entrepreneurs over the past five years, will run founders $250. Per the organizing team, the event also looks to highlight local resources like Philly Startup Leaders and REC Philly.

“We want to be the on ramp and partner with other organizations to keep these ventures going,” Friedkin said. “At the end of the day, we all have the same mission. The least we can do is help facilitate the ones that can make that happen through their ideas.”
