Jim Kenney is speaking at an event that aims to turn more women into angel investors

Entrepreneur Kim Ramirez says the event will have an educational bent. It's geared toward high-net-worth women who could become accredited investors.

Kim Ramirez wants more women to become angel investors.

It’s a charge others before her have taken on, including those from the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, which has held angel investor bootcamps.

Ramirez is hosting an educational, “women-centric community building event” Wednesday at PricewaterhouseCoopers (2001 S. 18th St.) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mayoral candidate Jim Kenney will even be there, continuing his foray into the tech scene.

“The goal,” Ramirez wrote in an email, “is to bring more Philadelphia women into the angel investment community, and to grow the startup ecosystem both deep and wide.”

Register ($25)

She hopes to get “financially savvy business women who meet the definition of an accredited investor (annual salary of $200,000 single; $300,000 married)” in the audience.

Ramirez runs a startup called FactSUMO. She last wrote a guest post slamming the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs and Ben Franklin Technology Partners’ donation-based fund for women-led startups.
