Rap lovers can test their knowledge with The Rap Test, a web trivia game that got more than 160,000 plays in the first five days after launch.
The not-for-profit game is making the rounds on TechCrunch, Business Insider and other national tech and music rags, with stories that focus on Danny Friday, the 21-year-old cofounder who professes to just love rap. Friday is roommates with several Thiel Fellows in San Francisco (though he is not a Thiel Fellow himself), but the team has Philly roots, too: South Jersey-based public relations specialist Chris Barrett is one of The Rap Test’s cofounders.
Barrett, whom you might remember from his Google Glass stunts, runs a PR firm called PR Serve that caters to startups (which might help explain The Rap Test’s buzziness). He met Friday through The Rap Test’s other cofounder, Josh Indig, according to TechCrunch.
Barrett said that once The Rap Test raises funding, he’ll join the team full-time in San Francisco. On another note, according to The Rap Test’s FAQ, the team does not plan on making money off the site. It’s just for the love of the rap, they say. But Barrett elaborated further, saying that The Rap Test will not make money until the artists featured on the site make money.
