GoodCompany Group: director Zoe Selzer leaves accelerator she cofounded

Selzer believed it was the right time to leave, according to a press release. She declined to elaborate in private correspondence. GoodCompany is searching for a replacement.

Zoe Selzer has left GoodCompany Group, the social enterprise accelerator she cofounded and led since March 2012, GoodCompany announced Friday. The announcement comes less than a week before the accelerator’s demo day for its summer 2013 class.

Selzer, GoodCompany’s executive director, believed it was the right time to leave, according to a press release. She declined to elaborate in private correspondence. GoodCompany is searching for a replacement.

In the meantime, two members of GoodCompany’s board of directors, Murex Investments managing general partner Joel Steiker and Investors’ Circle Philadelphia president John Moore, will serve as interim executive directors. Garrett Melby, cofounder and CEO of GoodCompany, will remain in his position, where he’s working with the city on its social enterprise accelerator, FastFWD.

GoodCompany Group grew out of¬†a partnership¬†between Green Village, Selzer’s sustainable business incubator, and Melby’s GoodCompany Ventures, a social enterprise accelerator. Selzer’s departure does seem like a dramatic change, as she was one-half of the founding team, and there’s no shortage of speculation among those near to the community.

That said, a number of recent Good Company graduates credited the program with helping their work, and the FastFWD program is moving forward. So what prompted Zelzer’s leaving isn’t yet public.
