BlankSlate is a local company that runs an advertising network for websites with a local orientation, among other services. (It built ExploreBK.com with the Chamber of Commerce, for instance.) Now the company has acquired perhaps the most iconic Brooklyn blogging brand, Brownstoner, the news company that’s also partly behind Brooklyn Flea and the 1000 Dean Street project.
BlankSlate has been running much of the business operation of the editorial brand for some time and apparently an offer to buy the real estate news site has been on the table. It has now closed. Jonathan Butler sold his site to BlankSlate’s Kael Goodman, officially, earlier this month.
Some details about what’s ahead for the site are on the BlankSlate blog, which says the site will continue to cover Brooklyn’s changing built environment while expanding its services:
BlankSlate has been the driving force behind many of Brownstoner’s expansions over the years. The agency handled Brownstoner’s advertising and content marketing efforts, and revamped its website, its property listings, and Local Home Pros, a place where readers can compare home professionals from real estate agents to carpenters to architects. Even Brownstoner Queens started out as a BlankSlate site called QueensNYC, before BlankSlate sold it to Brownstoner.
