The local congressional candidates on tech

Last week, I sat on a panel of journalists asking questions to four of the five candidates for Delaware’s sole US House of Representatives seat.

News Incubator: What else to know today

• The Delaware primaries are Sept. 10. Take a deep dive into the candidates and issues with the Delaware Journalism Collaborative’s 2024 Voter Guide. [DJC]

• The Delaware Department of Transportation has contracted with Canadian asset-tracking company Geotab Inc. The goal is to use Geotab’s near real-time tracking, data insights and reporting capabilities to reduce costs while improving safety outcomes. [Geotab]

• Downtown Newark is piloting a no-cost off-season parking plan this winter. From Dec. 16 to Jan. 15, parking will be free on weekends. [Delaware Online]

• Entrepreneur Gayle Dillman, founder of Gable Music Ventures and the Ladybug Festival, got inducted into the Delaware Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. • Back to school: If you’re a teacher in Delaware (or Pennsylvania or New Jersey or Maryland), you’re entitled to free all-you-can-drink Wawa hot coffee at participating locations through Sept. 15. [Philadelphia Inquirer]

• Wilmington is one of the cities being considered as the site of the Joseph Biden Presidential Library, along with Newark, DC and Syracuse, New York. Spur Impact founder Charles Vincent suggests the Daniel L. Herrmann Courthouse in Rodney Square. [Delaware Business Times]

• No more dropped calls in Hockessin (hopefully). The northwestern New Castle County suburb is getting a new cell tower to get rid of the area’s last remaining dead zones. [Town Square Delaware]
