This weekend’s Startup Weekend DC is all about social impact

And there's still time to grab tickets for the April 22 event.

Calling all do-gooding entrepreneurs, inventors, designers and developers — this one’s for you!
Startup Weekend is coming back to D.C., and this time the focus is all on social impact. As the event page puts it: “Any idea that helps the world become a better place is welcome.”
The event will be held April 22-24 at iStrategyLabs in Shaw, so there are still a few days to grab tickets ($99). Find lots more info on judges, mentors and what to expect here.

While a specific topic like social impact is standard for Startup Weekends (a past edition focused on flipping the gender ratio, for example) this topic is kind of specific to D.C., too.
“The Washington, D.C. area is home to hundreds of influential international development, non-profit, and socially-conscious organizations that are making a positive impact on global problems like poverty and climate change,” event organizers write.
If you’ve got an idea you’d like to work on, or just want to get those creative juices flowing, Startup Weekend can be a great way to do both. D.C.-based charitable wedding registry startup Heartful.ly was initially a product of a Startup Weekend, and these two entrepreneurs enjoy the concept so much they held their own miniature version.
