GoBabyGo, with its mission to help toddlers with mobility issues by modifying battery-operated ride-on toy vehicles, has become part of Smyrna Middle School’s STEM curriculum.
An article titled “Compassion on the Move” in the June issue of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Delaware Business magazine, highlights the program, which has customized four cars so far. (Click here to download a PDF of the article.)
A teacher at SMS helped to bring the program to the school after receiving a modified car for her son.
GoBabyGo, founded in 2006 by the University of Delaware Mobility Lab by Dr. Cole Galloway and Sunil Agrawal, has gotten huge in the last few years since it was awarded three-year, $515,000 grant from the National Science Foundation in 2014. Today, there are GoBabyGo chapters, workshops and school programs across the country.
In Delaware, GoBabyGo has partnered with local businesses and organizations, including The Fun Dept., Accudyne Systems, UDairy Creamery (which runs the GoBabyGo Cafe on UD’s STAR campus, and NextFab Wilmington, which held a GoBabyGo event for Delaware Innovation Week 2017.
