Veyobox: create a shared scrapbook with this mobile app

Not every baby photo is Facebook material.

With Veyobox, a new mobile app from a local team, users can share photos and text with a select few. It’s a searchable, collaborative scrapbook that lets users organize memories (photos, quotes, stories) that are scattered among online and offline platforms, said cofounder Prasanna Krishnan.

Veyobox is run by mobile developer Lakshmi Sudarsan and local tech power couple Krishnan and Kartik Hosanagar.

Krishnan, who’s worked at companies like Comcast, DFJ Ventures and Jetsetter, and Sundarsan, formerly of Qualcomm, make up the development team, while `Hosanagar, an angel investor and Wharton professor, focuses on business and strategy. Krishnan and Hosanagar also run SmartyPAL, a series of educational iPad stories for children.

The revenue model is a “freemium model,” with users paying extra for extra features, Krishnan said.

The team is targeting schools and daycares, who can use the product to keep in touch with families, Krishnan said. Teachers can take photos, for example, of a student in the classroom and post them to Veyobox to share with that student’s parents.
