LocoRobo wants to teach your kids coding and robotics this summer

Kid summer camp options abound, but LocoRobo wants to teach kids about coding and robots.
Pretty sure that beats band camp.
This July, during the LocoSummer Robotics and Digital Literacy Summer Enrichment Camp, kids aged eight to 18 will have a chance to get in touch with the company’s easy-to-program robotics platform, a result of Pramod Abichandani’s doctoral thesis.

“LocoSummer students will learn and apply these tools to their own projects, exploring the possibilities of what they can create,” the company said on a press release. “Students will use the LocoRobo Academy coding platform to program LocoXtreme, LocoArm and LocoDrone robots.”
Kids will also be able to get hands-on experience with 3D printing, drones and sensors, guided by engineers and college professors.
Sessions for grades 4-8 will take place July 11-15, and grades 9-12 will attend July 18-22. Both groups will be meeting at First Unitarian Church, at 2125 Chestnut St.
Although registration for the weeklong camp is $400, the company has not forgotten its old nonprofit spirit: LocoRobo is offering need-based scholarships for the camp. To reach out about scholarships, send LocoRobo a message here.
