Delaware’s public library system is packed with resources for entrepreneurs and small business owners, all for free. If you’re not taking advantage of all they offer, you’re missing out.
The Innovation Spaces at Delaware Libraries offer workshops and seminars year-round — and this month, you can learn more about what we do at Technical.ly, and how to pitch your business or story idea to the press in general.
“Pitch the Press to Tell Your Story” will be presented by Technical.ly Delaware lead reporter Holly Quinn (that’s me!) on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from noon to 1 p.m. The presentation and Q&A will be held in person at Wilmington Public Library’s Innovation Space, with a live simulcast to the Bear, Dover, Georgetown and Milton Libraries.
In this presentation, you’ll learn best practices for contacting a member of the press with a pitch about your business or event, including do’s and don’ts and tips for getting a response. This isn’t about creating a million-dollar press release, but how to make a real connection with the local press and establish your business as coverage-worthy.
February’s Small Business Assistance Workshops are geared to companies in the startup and growth stages. In addition to “Pitch the Press to Tell Your Story,” the events include:
- Feb. 13 — “Get Your Business Noticed in Google Search Results”
- Presenter: Kerry Fox of Delaware Digital Media
- Feb 27 — “Use Crowdfunding to Grow Organically”
- Presenter: Karen Igou of Honey Bee Kitchen & Market
Keep up with all of the workshops and events at the Innovation Spaces on the Delaware Libraries calendar.
