The event will feature a bunch of cool speakers and the final round of the Diamond Challenge.

You’ve got until April 10 to buy tickets for the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (YES!) 2016, which will be at the University of Delaware April 15. (We previously reported April 6 was the last day; that date has been bumped back an extra four days.)
The event will feature a resource fair and several workshops aimed at students, educators and parents. The diverse list of presenters ranges from Zach Phillips of The Kitchen to Shelby Newsome, the founder and editor of Tote Magazine, to Jessi Taylor from Barrel of Makers. Katlyn Grasso, founder and CEO of the female empowerment network for young women called GenHERation, will be the keynote speaker.

The summit will also be the culmination of the Horn Program’s Diamond Challenge, which consists of two high-school venture concept competitions. The top three finalists from the business concept and social venture competitions will pitch their ideas to judges Paul McConnell, state Sen. Harris McDowell (D-Wilmington), keynote speaker Katlyn Grasso, SeventySix Capital founder Wayne Kimmel and Suzanne Clough, who was most recently the chief medical officer of WellDoc for several years.
“This is the biggest year yet,” said Diamond Challenge organizer Julie Frieswyk. About 2,000 students have participated in the fourth annual challenge, from 17 states and 17 countries, she said.
For the first time, the summit will be live-streamed on the Diamond Challenge website, Frieswyk said, and three UD students from the school’s television network will host the event.
Frieswyk said she’d like to see lots high school students there, and also encouraged community members to attend. “We want to get as much Delaware participation as possible and drive interest at home.”
