The Foundery is introducing a new pricing model for one-day access to the heavy hardware at City Garage.
Previously, a day pass to the Port Covington-based makerspace was $50. Starting Aug. 1, the Port Covington-based makerspace is cutting its Mon.-Fri. daytime pass to $20. Access on evening and weekends will be $10 going forward, according to a press release. Additionally, $150 monthly passes will no longer be offered.
It’s a move that’s designed to lower barriers to using the tools at the space.
“The Foundery’s new system will enable those interested in developing a career in manufacturing to come and use our tools and develop their skills on a pay-as-you-go basis,” Executive Director Jason Hardebeck said in a statement.
The makerspace has been introducing initiatives that are designed to provide job training for city residents. Partnering with the Center for Urban Families, it also rolled out a manufacturing bootcamp earlier this year. A new cohort began earlier this month.
