Towson University’s incubator is a home of edtech startups looking to grow. Next week, the college’s entrepreneurship engine is hosting a conversation with an entrepreneur who has been at his current venture for nearly a decade.
Burck Smith, the founder of Straighterline, will speak at an event dubbed “Edtech Stories.” The free talk is set to take place Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the incubator’s space on York Rd.
Smith founded Straighterline in 2008. In an interview last year, he talked about how the company’s model of offering low-cost, online college courses was initially controversial. But it’s gained acceptance over time, even getting a nod from the U.S. Department of Education.
