But a makerspace is not really about the tools, says Darfler, the program manager of the education-focused, family-friendly makerspace in University City.

A sheet of fabric can be an ocean. A stick of wood can be magic wand. Making is dirty, chaotic and messy, but that is an integral part of how we develop tenacity and understanding.
The Department of Making + Doing recently launched a new website, designed by local education design firm PlusUs.
