In the sixth episode of Between Two Founders, the video series featuring conversations with local startup founders from the greater Baltimore region, host Sean Sutherland speaks with Christopher Schafer, founder of Sharp Dressed Man and the appropriately named Christopher Schafer Clothier.

Founded in 2011 and inspired by the donation of old suits, Sharp Dressed Man has helped over 2,000 individuals looking to come back from homelessness, addiction, and incarceration through tailoring and professional development support.

Sutherland, director of accounts for local creative agency startup Kapowza, asks throughout the video about how Sharp Dressed Man got started, the nonprofit’s connection (or lack thereof) to ZZ Top and how each article of clothing tells a story.

Here are Sutherland’s thoughts on this month’s episode:

The mission of Sharp Dressed Man is simple: impact positive change for individuals through a free suit. But when you start to peel back the surface, and learn just all of what they do and mean for Baltimore, how could you not want to support that? Plus they have the same affinity for pink as we do.

Between Two Founders was filmed on location in Baltimore at Kapowza’s world headquarters in Brewers Hill. If you’re a startup interested in being featured in an upcoming episode, shoot Sean@kapowza.co a note and tell him what makes your startup unique.
