BEACON DC, the District’s initiative to support women entrepreneurs, opened up applications for a new round of grant funding this week.
This year, it has $50,000 available for projects supporting female founders, according to an announcement. BEACON DC is looking to fund efforts that address gaps in existing services. The projects could be new, or an expansion of an initiative that already exists. And don’t shy away from partnering with others, the release states.
Launched in 2016 by Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office, Google, and Georgetown Law’s Institute for Technology Law and Policy, BEACON DC aims to provide programming and connections for female founders. The grant program was initially introduced in 2017.
Last year, in the first round of grant funding, BEACON provided support to 19 organizations like Black Girl Ventures’ Boss Up Pitch Competition and the Tech Lady Hackathon.
In 2018, there are plans to open up the projects to community voting from Aug. 12-25, and awardees will be announced in September. Find the application at the link below:
