The Delaware Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for this year’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, with nearly $345,000 allocated to assist in increasing the competitiveness of Delaware-grown specialty crops.
Among the agricultural project types the DDA is looking for are food safety enhancement, specialty crop research on environmental outcomes, developing new seed varieties, efficiency improvement and improving food access.
Grants are available between $5,000 and $50,000 for projects that may last between one and three years. Applicants may be individual producers, producer groups, organizations and associations, as well as state and local organizations, academia and other specialty crops stakeholders, either as single entities or in combined efforts.
The deadline for application is April 14.
