Check out Delaware State’s new optics research center

Delaware officially has a new laser research lab. The coolest part? The research center is a big glass prism.
Last week, Dover’s Delaware State University dedicated its long-awaited Optical Science Center for Applied Research (OSCAR).
Oh, and the ribbon cutting was done with a laser.


Why the prismatic architecture?
“One, it saves energy; two, it reminds you of optics,” OSCAR Executive Director Dr. Noureddine Melikechi told WBOC. “Prisms [are an] important optical element. And, three, its unique and I think that it shows that we are about the future.”
As soon as DSU gets the funds, an identical sister center will be built adjacent to OSCAR to create the Delaware Institute for Science and Technology.
