Plano, Texas-based Aligned Energy, a data center provider and creator of cloud solutions, announced that it has completed phase one of its Ashburn, Virginia, data center campus. The 26-acre campus is located in Virginia’s so-called Data Center Alley.

Phase one included the initial 368,755-square-foot, 60-megawatt (MW) facility, and will be followed by a 409,000-square-foot, 120-MW development.

“Leveraging our standardized supply chain methodology, a dedicated, 50 MW, auto-replenished inventory pool, and best-of-breed partners, Aligned constructed two data halls and built out the first 12 MW of data center space, expandable to 60 MW, in less than six months,” Andrew Schaap, CEO of Aligned Energy, said in a statement.

The company said in a press release that it chose to place a data center in Ashburn for many reasons, including its favorable tax incentives, affordable and reliable power and a dense fiber network. Aligned Energy’s new Ashburn campus is located less than 800 feet from an internet exchange point, a physical infrastructure where internet service providers and content delivery networks exchange internet traffic between their networks.

Aligned Energy said it prides itself in reducing the energy, water and space needed to operate its data center solutions through the usage of its patented cooling technology, Delta Cube. This tech allows customers to deploy infrastructure where and when they need it, as their requirements continuously change.

Aligned Energy joins Vantage Data Centers, which is also constructing a Data Center Alley campus.
