Not everything you need to be a successful dev is taught at bootcamp. This workshop fills it in

So you’ve done it. You’ve graduated from that coding bootcamp and are putting your new skills to good use at your first job. You’re learning a lot still — learning on the job. But there are some skills, you find, that bootcamp didn’t quite get around to teaching.

Enter Code Writers Workshop — a conference that “explores topics that devs need to be successful beyond writing great code.”

Organized by Modev, the conference was inspired by writers workshops. “The CWW recognizes that much of what it takes to be successful as a dev isn’t taught in a bootcamp or with a CS degree,” Kayla Tagner, Modev’s community outreach manager, told Technical.ly.

CWW is coming back to D.C. (or, more precisely, Tysons Corner) for the third time around on June 9. The theme of the day-long conference will be “Software Leadership in a New Era.” In other words, it’ll explore how software engineers can make the transition from straight coding to a leadership type role.

A bunch of #dctech names are speaking — Capital One fellow Johnny Ray Austin, 1776 CTO Yuriko Horvath and more. Over the course of the day attendees will learn  skills like “cultivating a high-performance team culture, overcoming ‘imposter syndrome’ and maintaining UI standard in an agile team,” Tagner said.
