The Entertainment Software Association announced on Tuesday that it has won a “people’s voice” (aka public vote) Webby award. The award is for “The United States of Video Games” — an interactive site built by ESA that allows visitors to “explore the impact of the video game industry in their own state and engage with their legislators on the subject.”

The Massachusetts Ave.-based ESA does public affairs work for businesses that touch all angles of the video game industry — from publishers to console makers. As such the association has an interest in the economic and social impact of video games in communities across the country, which is exactly what the site shows.

Click on your state for more information on school programs, companies and revenue from games. In D.C., for example, the site identifies two college programs and 12 local companies.

The ESA’s site was a finalist for a 2017 Webby in the “associations” category — the overall winner in that category was Hyperakt for creating the Vera Institute of Justice site.
