An SMS-based tool for both collecting malaria data and requesting malaria treatment won first prize at the Ycenter’s Impactathon, a two-day hackathon focused on improving health care in Africa. The project was built by a team of Drexel undergrads.
The student hackathon, organized by social good organization Ycenter, was held at the Center City coworking space Benjamin’s Desk in late May. Ycenter organizes student study abroad trips to Africa and was founded by Dhairya Pujara, who got his master’s in biomedical engineering from Drexel in 2012.
