After several months of scouting, Wilmington Renaissance Corporation has announced Renata Kowalczyk as its new Managing Director.

The leadership role at the nonprofit – which focuses on the revitalization of Downtown Wilmington – was last held by Dr. Carrie Gray, who left the organization in June after a 20-year run.

“After a very positive search process, the board unanimously agreed that Renata is the right person to lead WRC into the future,” said Glenn Moore, chair of WRC’s Board of Directors. “Out of all the great candidates we spoke with, she stood out as the best fit to continue the great work WRC has been doing for the past 25 years.”

In addition to her extensive professional experience, Wilmington-based Kowalczyk is an active member of the community, as Vice-President of the Board of Delaware Shakespeare, committee co-chair at the Rotary Club of Wilmington and member of the Forum of Executive Women Delaware.

Current projects of the non-profit WRC include The Creative District of West Center City, which has a major green space project in the works, and New Market Wilmington, the Downtown shopping, dining and arts hub.
