Let’s brand Philly as the “innovation-friendly city,” said the city’s Chief Innovation Officer Adel Ebeid in a video about the city’s innovation efforts, tech and otherwise. Watch Part 1 of the video series below. This one is focused on how the city’s nonemergency hotline 311 office and Police Department are using technology to better serve Philadelphians.

The video series is by Indy Hall-based video production team Skout Media. The contract for the video was the first contract posted to Big Ideas PHL, the city’s six-month-old website for tech contracts under $30,000. Big Ideas PHL is the city’s effort to rethink procurement.

The video also includes appearances by Managing Director Rich Negrin, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsay, 311 Director Rosetta Lue and Civic Technology Director Tim Wisniewski.

Like any company’s marketing strategy, a branded #PhillyInnovates video from the city helps show priorities. A crush of the city’s more public facing departments are proud of their recent advancements in citizen communication and want to be better known for it.
