New York is becoming an increasingly popular destination for the young, white, wealthy, married and professional demographics, according to a new data visualization from mapping swami Chris Whong, of the city’s Department of Planning.

The project, “Who Migrates To and From NYC,” breaks down Census figures from 1935 to 2014 and in the categories of: age, sex, race, nativity, marital status and more.

“While NYC has seen wide variations in the volume of migrants through the decades, certain groups are more inclined to come or go,” the project states. “The overall or net effect of migration flows in and out of the city is referred to as net migration.”

The thing is worth a little bit of your time. You can see how the decades impact different groups in specific ways.
