True innovation isn’t about a single initiative. It’s about building a spirit of continuous improvement in everything you do. That’s the path to winning solutions.
At Kaiser Permanente innovation is a core value that unites us around our vision to be trusted partners in total health, collaborating with people to help them thrive, and creating communities that are among the healthiest in the nation.
We share Technical.ly’s commitment to helping increase Baltimore’s impact regionally and nationally. So we are proud to be a Collaboration Sponsor of Baltimore Innovation Week 2016 presented by 14 West and look forward to welcoming more than 10,000 Innovation Week participants to the city of Baltimore.
It is why we could think of no better weekend and no better city to host the Kaiser Permanente Social Innovation Challenge.

Those of us who live, learn, or work here know how amazing Baltimore is. But we also know well the challenges it faces.
The distance from one ZIP code to the next can make all the difference in a person’s likelihood of living a long, healthy, vibrant life. Our Social Innovation Challenge is designed to help resolve the disparities that diminish quality of life for too many of our citizens.
The Social Innovation Challenge is a two-day citizen social venture contest where developers, activists, idea generators, designers and more will come together to develop solutions to three of Baltimore city’s most complex issues:

  • Education and workforce development
  • Access to healthcare
  • Access to mental health services

The pace and intensity of the Social Innovation Challenge will require you to think on your feet, come together as a cohesive team and work quickly to produce something tangible in just 36 hours. And the Social Innovation Challenge doesn’t just have to end in software. It’s simply an intense period of highly focused design and brainstorming that will end in the execution of the best idea.
Our panel of VIP judges will award prizes for the winning solutions to the tune of $3,000 in cash, and more.
The Social Innovation Challenge will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 at Coppin State University’s Talon Center. We hope that you will join us!
