In a year when the effects of climate change seem to be everywhere — from massive West Coast fires to a Midwest inland hurricane to Delaware getting hit with multiple tornadoes, including an unprecedented one that lasted nearly 30 miles — you might be seriously thinking about working to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
There are little things you can do, like limiting travel (easy in the COVID-19 era), but climate action isn’t really something that makes a major impact on the individual level. It takes policy changes and public strategies.
The State of Delaware is looking for public input on strategies the state is considering for Delaware’s Climate Action Plan based on a recently completed technical analysis of greenhouse gas emissions in Delaware. Participation includes attending one or more of four virtual workshops being held through Oct. 1.
The first workshop, Minimizing Greenhouse Gas Emissions, will be held twice, on Sept. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.and Sept. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Workshop #2 — Maximizing Resilience to Sea Level Rise: Sept. 24, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Workshop #3 — Maximizing Resilience to Increased Temperatures: Sept. 29, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Workshop #4 — Maximizing Resilience to Heavy Precipitation and Flooding: Oct. 1, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Sign up for the free virtual workshops, which are held on Zoom, by 90 minutes before the start time at declimateplan.org.
