It’s March, so we’re wrapping up Q1 with a celebration of Delaware creatives, amazing fundraisers and some celebrity sightings — including the cast of an influential TV show celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Here’s what you need to put on your March calendars:

This annual 24-hour marathon of giving returns on March 7. Starting at 6 p.m., local nonprofits from all over Delaware will kick off their campaigns and vie for community members’ charitable giving dollars. The event comes complete with leaderboards and bonuses for meeting goals throughout the night and into the next day.

Giver incentives include matching gifts and prizes.

This collaborative event is hosted by Spur Impact and The United Way of Delaware, with dozens of community sponsors and supporters.

The Oscars, but make it Delaware (Sunday, March 10)

The Delaware Oscars Party is back for its third year, returning to Goldey-Beacom College on March 10 from 7 to 11 p.m. More than just a watch party, the red carpet event, organized by New Castle-based Purpose PR and hosted by Suite Franchon, takes a cue from the Academy and honors top talent in film, acting, hair and makeup artistry and music. The difference? This time, all of the winners are local to Delaware.

The honorees are:

  • Producer, writer and creator: Christopher Bruce
  • Acting: Ariel Chaillou
  • Celebrity Stylist: Nikki Valentine
  • Hair and makeup artist: Paige Draper
  • Jazz vocalist: Sharon Sable

“There are many talented artists who are overlooked and doing remarkable things, not only in Delaware but also nationwide,” Purpose PR founder Porsha Green told Technical.ly. “Most of these creatives reside humbly in our community. My goal is to acknowledge artists each year who are doing exceptional things in creative spaces.”

The event will feature a buffet dinner, cocktails, DJ TimmDogg, red carpet musicians Donald Robinson and Stacey Harcum, and an Oscars watch party.
