DC’s year in tech: An interactive timeline for 2024

Local universities leaned into AI, video game developers formed a union and the city scored millions to expand broadband access over the last year.

This year flew by. Looking at the whirlwind milestones in the DMV, that makes sense. 

The region had plenty of accomplishments in 2024, like the federal government granting DC $100 million for digital equity and workers unionizing at Bethesda Game Studios. There were also some less-than-ideal moments, like Techstars ending its DC-based accelerator program.
