Beta City, the celebration of local tech and entrepreneurship organized by Betamore, is returning for a fifth year on Sept. 26.
The event will be held at City Garage in Port Covington, where Betamore’s coworking and education space is based.
Beta City features a day of pitches, networking and demos, all designed to bring the tech community together and provide a look at what’s being built in Baltimore. According to Betamore, the event will begin with a VC pitch competition at 3 p.m. Then, it’s followed by wider networking event that includes space for a tech showcase.
Betamore is accepting applications for both the pitch competition and tech showcase.
“This year, we’re hoping to attract innovators of web development, wearables & IOT, manufacturing, robots, health & wellness, augmented & virtual reality, as well as those working in cyber security, digital arts and beyond,” Betamore Executive Director Lara Azzam said in a statement.
The pitch competition, which in the past has been judged by a panel of local investors and tech leaders, will award a $25,000 cash prize to the winner. Past winners of the pitch competition include Femly, Hungry Harvest, Tissue Analytics, Citelighter and Yet Analytics.
In 2018, Betamore’s tech showcase included demos from 50 companies after the organizers extended the footprint within City Garage.
Application info is available at the event’s website.
