Political pros are set to gather at George Washington University for an outdoor event called The Agora this week. They’ll be checking out some of the tech tools that are helping in advocacy and communications, some of which are being developed in D.C.

The Aug. 31 event, which runs from 3–6 p.m., will have a forum with panels and fireside chats, and plenty of chances for networking. Attendees will also get a chance to meet companies working in political technology, and check out their products, said Brian Kaissi. He is the vice chairman of Grassroots Professional Network, which is organizing the event with The Hill and George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political School of Management.

More than 40 organizations will be at the marketplace, including D.C. companies such as Crowdskout and Quorum.

“Some of the platforms featured Thursday are currently used by the largest and most powerful advocacy organizations, and offer multifaceted tools to for various government and public affairs needs,” Kaissi said. “However, other platforms are niche, newer, and specific to one deliverable, such as congressional fly-in management, voter targeting, or social media.

Kiassi, who is a voice on how tech is changing the political landscape, said the organizations are looking to “foster a forum for professionals to share best practices and learn about the newest technology, tools, and trends that are propelling our industry forward.”
