The melding of art and technology is one of the most interesting things going on right now in the tech world, and we are lucky enough in Brooklyn to be right at the center of it.

People like Sam Lavigne, Nicole He, everyone at Pioneer Works and plenty of others are exploring new ways to make points and create beauty with technology. Now the Make It In BK pitch competition wants to add to their ranks.

“Startup types include commerce platforms, viewing platforms, VR/AR, ticketing systems, inventory management, interactive display, among others,” according to the org that organizes the quarterly event, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.

The event will be held at the creative incubator space A/D/O, in Greenpoint. The winner will receive $5,000 in funding and some potentially valuable new mentors.

For the uninitiated, business booster organization Downtown Brooklyn Partnership has an initiative called Make It In BK, which hosts a pitch competition every three months. They get very good judges, including venture capitalists, successful founders and government representatives. Former winners have found success in the Brooklyn tech world, and include Propel and Humblee.

Judges for this round of the competition will be:

  • De Angela DuffNYU Tandon School of Engineering
    Jon VanhalaCrossfade Partners
    Joni SaylorIBM
    Catherine LeveneArtSpace Marketplace
    J.J. CasperBlue Seed Collective

The deadline to apply is July 7.
