Brooklyn startups raised $34 million in the first quarter of 2017

Sounds like a lot but, for context, $67 million was raised in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Brooklyn startups raised $34 million between Jan. 1 and March 31 of this year, according to a review of public records. Twelve companies raised amounts ranging from $185,000 to $8.4 million.

This is only the second quarter for which we’ve kept track of fundraising amounts, but the total figure raised is well below — nearly half — the fourth quarter of 2016, when $67 million was raised.
