Coming up from South Brooklyn, coworking space Bklyn Commons will open a second location in Bedford-Stuyvesant this coming spring, according to a report in The Real Deal magazine.
At a reported 30,000 square feet, the space will be nearly three times as large as the existing Bklyn Commons space in Lefferts Gardens, which opened this spring with about 11,000 square feet.
We asked Bklyn Commons President Jack Srour what separates his space from the rest of the field.
“We focus on hyper local clientele and embrace the community as a whole,” he responded. “We listen to our members and react quickly if we see that there is a common theme that they request.”

The coworking business keeps rolling on. Bklyn Commons’ announcement comes within weeks of the announcement of a new coworking space in Industry City and a $37 million raise by Industrious.
But with all the coworking in Brooklyn, even some in the industry wonder if the market is saturated.

“On the contrary, I feel that it’s just getting started,” Srour said. “I really believe that small businesses as well as freelancers want to work in a beautiful environment and if it can be offered at an affordable price they will pick a coworking space over a regular office environment or cafes. From the short time that we are in this business we see that there is a tremendous demand from those who understand what coworking is about … People are still being educated to the coworking option, so I see the concept on the rise for many years to come.”
