As we progress inexorably into the digital economy, it’s becoming increasingly necessary to be literate in the world of how to order computers to do labor for you. People in analog professions are learning how to code, homeless people are learning how to code, babies are learning how to code. If you’re wondering if you should learn to code, Buzzfeed has provided a very convenient list for you.
So if all this is raising anxiety in you as a parent, good. You need to have your kid coding, stat. Luckily, creative technology house Reaktor has teamed up with the Made in NY Media Center to offer free coding classes for Brooklyn’s toddler class.
“About two years ago, one of our developers, Juha, started teaching his 4-year-old daughter to code,” the program explains. “She really loved it! Then, he decided to see if other little techies would like it as much, and Reaktor Code School for Kids became a modest club for the children of Reaktor employees. They all loved it, too!”
Classes are for children ages 5 to 9 years old and taught by Reaktor developers. Sign up early for the June 19 session, space is limited and the group requires just one child per guardian, so determine the most promising of your brood!
