Brooklyn Bridge Ventures Partner Charlie O’Donnell went to see the Dallas Buyer’s Club movie and it inspired him to write a post on his blog in favor or disruptions, generally. His basic thesis is that economies of scale create efficiency for everyone, until innovation makes those economies unnecessary, and that’s when they become entrenched interest.

What may interest technologists most, though, are the specific disruptions he’s looking forward to, including disruptions in voting, telephones and employment.

If you lived during the Industrial Revolution, the world was completely reinvented during your lifetime.  I feel like we’re on the verge of reinventing society–that the shifts we see in power are only the beginning. Peer coordination and network of individuals are real.  It’s going to result in a lot more than just photosharing.

Powerful structures are crumbling and it’s bigger than even we can imagine.  I’m psyched to be a part of it.
