TaskRabbit (also) hops into Baltimore

Baltimore is one of five new cities this week for TaskRabbit, the on-demand marketplace for everyday chores.
The expansion makes the service available in Baltimore, Baltimore County and some of Anne Arundel County.
The San Francisco-based startup’s app allows people to post chores like putting together furniture, moving an item or cleaning. It then matches them with “taskers” to complete the work. The taskers set their rates, according to a spokeswoman.
The entrance into Baltimore is part of a wider expansion. In all, TaskRabbit is looking to move into 20 new cities, CEO Stacy Brown-Philpot recently told CBS. The company was founded in 2008, and is frequently mentioned among gig-economy startups.
Suddenly there’s competition in the space in Baltimore. Earlier this week, Nashville-based Takl also announced an expansion into Baltimore.
