A Columbia virtual reality company is in the running in a global competition.
ImmersiMap Global, which is based at the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, entered its Explore 360 application into a Dutch-based hackathon called VirtuLeap.
The project allows a user to navigate continuously through buildings, with guidance from a map. Built using WebVR (here’s a Brooklyn company that’s hype on the web framework), the 360 application offers a first-person view of an area through a web browser or VR headset. It was developed by Tom Stankiewicz and Mark Stankiewicz.
The winner of the hackathon, which has 26 entries from multiple countries, is decided by votes.
