Tom Sadowski is leaving the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore to take a new position with the state’s public university system.
Sadowski was appointed to the newly-created role of Vice Chancellor of Economic Development for the University System of Maryland (USM). He starts May 2.
“We created this vice chancellor position to build on USM’s success in this area and to enable the system to focus its expertise, programs, and resources even more sharply and strategically on the state’s economic development priorities,” Chancellor Robert L. Caret said in  statement.
Sadowski took the job as president of EAGB in 2008. He frequently spoke about the role of tech in the region’s wider economy, and was an early supporter of the Digital Harbor Foundation. In an unofficial way, the growing role of tech can be judged each year by the number of entrepreneurs invited to the organization’s annual meeting. In 2015, some of those entrepreneurs were among the speakers who talked about their role in the community.

EAGB named Shannon Landwehr as interim pesident. Landwehr joined the organization as executive vice president last year, the Baltimore Sun reported.
