SixGen, a nascent cybersecurity startup, has joined the Chesapeake Innovation Center as a Collaboration Hub member, officials with the Odenton incubator announced Tuesday.

The startup, founded earlier this year, specializes in big data analytics, infrastructure and threat mitigation, serving government and commercial clients.

“Proprietary technology struggles to keep up with the industry needs,” cofounder and CEO Ethan Dietrich said in a release. “At SixGen we are embracing the speed and agility of the open-source community and delivering solutions that are just as capable.”

Collaboration Hub membership will provide Dietrich’s company with growth and development assistance before it approaches future investors and clients. Earlier this year, SixGen won the top prize in Anne Arundel Community College’s Business Plan Competition, an award that included a two-year membership to The Hatchery in Arnold and a $10,000 scholarship from the college’s Ratcliffe Scholars Program.

“SixGen is a great example of the perfect Collaboration Hub member: an entrepreneurial product company in an emerging area with a management team that has the drive, energy and vision to quickly work to validate the product, market need and further its development,” CIC Executive Director Laura Willoughby said in a release. “Ethan and his team bring a high level of entrepreneurial energy, hard work and dedication that is needed in every startup and we are eager to see them grow and prosper.”
