Spring is here, which means we’re right around the corner from Philly Tech Week 2019 presented by Comcast.
On the calendar of events slated for the week celebrating local tech and innovation is Technical.ly’s upcoming Dev Conference at Drexel LeBow College of Business on Wednesday, May 8. Developers, programmers and technologists of all sorts: Get pumped.
The day-long event is kicking off with a hands-on React workshop led by Ken Rimple, director of training and mentoring services at Chariot Solutions. Ken will be bringing an Express/GraphQL server Quizzo-style application, and you’ll have the morning to create a front-end for it in React. Along the way you’ll learn how React components work and how you can build components functionally, plus learn more about the in’s and out’s of this widely-used JS library.
To secure your spot for the workshop, you must purchase the “All Access Pass.” (Hurry, because spots are limited!)
For the rest of the day, we’ll host a light lunch and in the afternoon will have speakers from over 10 companies joining us to share their expertise and knowledge on all things development and programming.

Some of the companies you can expect to meet at Dev Conference:
- Comcast
- Linode
- Chariot Solutions
- Monetate
- … and many more!
You won’t want to miss the stories and experiences that will provide real-world examples and actionable steps for you and your team to learn from and implement in the future.
There are three rooms to choose from:
The conference will be set up in a “choose-your-own-adventure” format. What does that mean? Topics have been broken up in to separate rooms — themed as “Experts,” “Innovators” and “Leaders” — and you will be able to choose which talk you would like to sit in on.
Discussions will range from industry-focused topics within fintech and healthcare to AI and machine learning to leadership and soft skills — all of which are meant to help you scale in your own career.
We’ll cap the day full of programming with our Dev Happy Hour at Landmark Americana in University City to give you a chance to share your ideas and meet the other inquisitive minds from the event.
How to get involved:
Attend: General admission tickets are $65 (group tickets of five or more are $58), and for an All-Access Pass, which gives you admission to a full day of programming with the morning workshop, tickets are $75.
Speak: If you have something to say during Dev Conference, or any time at all, we want to hear from you! Our speaker interest form is open year-round and the Technical.ly team references the submissions for any and all speaker needs. (Please be as detailed and descriptive as possible.)
Volunteer: We’re expecting 250+ attendees at this year’s Dev Conference and are always looking for individuals who want to learn and get involved for this and all of our other Philly Tech Week events! Share your contact info here.
Sponsor: One of the best ways to garner visibility for your company/organization is through sponsorship. If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor, there’s more information here.
Stay tuned to hear about some of our presenting speakers and their chosen topics. We’ll see you May 8.
