For Brigitte Daniel, bridging the digital divide isn’t only about getting more people access to the Internet. It’s also about getting underserved communities involved in creating technology that people will use.
“It’s all connected,” she said in a statement.
That’s why, in spring 2015, the executive vice president of Fort Washington’s Wilco Electronic Systems is launching Mogulette, a program to get more young women of color into technology entrepreneurship.
Geared toward women of color between the ages of 20 and 25, Mogulette will start by hosting a speaker series with prominent women in tech, both locally and nationally, and later, in the fall of 2015, will pair program participants with mentors. Daniel is working with Temple and Drexel to find women to participate.

Mogulette joins the ranks of other local efforts to get girls and women into technology, like TechGirlz and Girl Develop It, though it’s one the first that focuses on women of color.
