John Nosek, CEO of mobile software company Guiding Technologies, is the first professor to win Temple’s Be Your Own Boss Bowl in the entrepreneurship competition’s 16-year-history, according to a release. Guiding Technologies, a Temple University spinout company in the works for more than four years, is developing software that aims to train therapists to care for those with Autism.
Nosek, a computer science professor, won more than $125,000 in cash and prizes at the competition, the release said. He plans to take a leave from Temple this fall to get the company off the ground, he told Technically Philly. Several local therapy providers, which he said he could not name, will pilot the technology this fall.
Guiding Technologies received $150,000 from the National Science Foundation and ran early trials last year, he said.
