Teachers and education entrepreneurs, apply to pitch for a SEED grant by Sunday

This year, SEED is offering two kinds of grants, one for entrepreneurs and one for teachers. Both winners will get to attend Penn's Fels Institute of Government class, Social Innovations Lab, for free.

"Teachers Lead Philly" wins last year's SEED 2.0 at City Hall.

Given the state of Philly’s underfunded schools, there’s no better time to apply to pitch at SEED (Supporting Entrepreneurship in Education) 3.0, the third annual crowdfunded micro-grant program for education ventures. The deadline is this Sunday.

This year, SEED is offering two kinds of grants, one for entrepreneurs and one for teachers. Both winners will get to attend Penn’s Fels Institute of Government class, Social Innovations Lab, for free. If you get accepted to pitch at SEED, you’ll demo in front of an audience and the the audience chooses the winner at the end of the event. Find more information, as per SEED organizers, below.

  • The first category is for education entrepreneurs (either non-profit or for-profit); the winner of this category will win $5,000. Apply here.
  • The second category is specifically for teachers or groups of teachers who are focused on bringing innovation and leadership to their school but are committed to remaining in the classroom as teachers; the winner of this category will win $2,500. Apply here.

SEED is hosted by Philly CORE Leaders and Councilman Bill Green. Read about last year’s SEED 2.0 here.
