Two former Eagles staffers launched what Fortune said could be “the best fantasy football platform.”
It’s called Reality Sports Online and it offers participants a real-time free agency auction room, where they can bid on players for multiyear deals — something that you can’t do with you average fantasy football league. The platform gives participants salary cap restrictions, too, in an effort to recreate what NFL general managers have to deal with.
Since its launch in July 2012, 2,100 people have signed up, cofounder Stephen Wendell said, and the team expects those numbers to grow as football season nears. The service costs $9.99 per team.
The founders, Matt Papson, 27, a former salary cap analyst for the Eagles, and Wendell, 29, a former law clerk for the Eagles, began working on Reality Sports Online in January 2012, roughly around when they left the Eagles. Papson lives in Hershey, Pa. and Wendell lives in New York City.
Reality Sports Online has another Philly tie, too: the company worked with Callowhill web dev firm Brolik to design its site.
